Description
| The first of these beautiful coupes were first produced in 1963 as the Giulia Sprint GT with a 1570cc engine. In 1968 the engine size was increased to 1779 cc and the 1780 was born. The two litre version went into production in 1971 with five speed gearboxes and disc brakes they were very advanced and even now can mix with modern traffic without any problem. See www.vintage-classics.co.uk A few pumps of the throttle turn the ignition key and the engine sings into life. One of the major attractions of driving a classic car is to be able to hear the engine. The rasp from a 2000 GTV (Grand Turismo Veloce) is music to an enthusiast’s ear and even on the coldest of days it is normal to have the driver's window down just to hear the engine, no need for a CD player in this car. Extensively rebuilt by Benalfa, a Alfa Romeo specialist, the car that Vintage Classics has to offer is a pleasure to drive |

Modifications
| Compared to modern cars most classics are quite raw to drive, this is a major attraction to most drivers of classic cars. Modern cars are just down right boring to drive, a classic provides that sense of achievement and excitement. The Alfa is a good balance between classic and modern, the controls have a more modern feel but at the heart it is a true classic car. In fact, the all round visibility is so good in this car I wish a modern day car designer would hire it to see how it should be done. Although we would not permit it, this car would be perfect for taking a driving test, it is one of the easiest cars to reverse. |
